I am looking for thoughts on some good brands for manganese / sulfur / iron filters primarily to remove sulfur. I am looking for a large whole house filter, and typically these cost just over $1,000. I have seen the Crystal Quest models but also would like to consider other brands. I would like the kind that does not require any potassium permanganate replenishment, instead just backwash. Our well pump has a pretty good flow rate. I plan to use our existing sediment filter before it and existing carbon filter after it... Any good models out there I should consider?

What you don't want is a "springhouse" filter. It imo should not be used as a whole house filter and it will not solve your problems, again imo. Cost is about 3500.00 plus installation and the company will lie to you and explain it will fix everything. If someone is trying to sell you one run, run fast.

The brand is irrelevant, it is applying the appropriate technology to the problem. H2S can be from sulfur reducing bacteria and can be aerated. so the question is the problem of a mineral origin or biological. another is how many parts per million is the contaminant? A material like birm can remove up to 20 ppm of iron, Mn or Sulphur providing the dissolved O2 is 100%. any certified lab report on water quality?

For "Problem Water" (iron, manganeese & H2S) you really need a well recomended pro from your area. Problem Water can be very straightforward sometimes and other time a real challenge.
